Glimmies (“we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what your rights are under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and its Dutch implementing law (UAVG). Glimmies is run from the Netherlands and is the data controller for the purposes of the GDPR.
1.1 Voluntarily provided (Discord sign-in, optional). Signing in is completely optional — the whole site works without it. If you choose to sign in via Discord, we receive:
We use this only to identify your account. We don't request or store anything else from Discord.
1.2 Preferences (only if you sign in). Once signed in, we store a few small preferences tied to your account: your theme choice (light/dark), your default region/product-type filters, and whether you've opted in to release notifications (a feature we're planning, not live yet — see “Newsletter” below). If you don't sign in, these same preferences just live in your own browser's local storage and never reach us at all.
1.3 Automatically processed (everyone, no sign-in needed). Like any website, our server receives your IP address and the page you ask for, because it can't send you the page otherwise. We don't use this to track you or build a profile, and any technical logs are kept only briefly, for security and troubleshooting. We don't use analytics, tracking pixels or any other visitor statistics.
We may add an opt-in email notification for new releases at some point. It'll be strictly opt-in, tied to the sign-in email above, and you'll be able to turn it off as easily as you turned it on. Nothing is sent to anyone today.
Nobody likes ads. Neither do we. Glimmies is, and will stay, completely free to use — we don't run banner ads, pop-ups, or anything like that.
We might place affiliate links on some product pages (Cardmarket, eBay, and similar). These will always be clearly marked as such. If you click one and buy something, we may earn a small commission — at no extra cost to you — which helps keep the site running and up to date. That's it.
We don't sell, rent, or trade your personal data to anyone, ever. Full stop.
We use a small number of services to actually run the site:
None of these get more from us than what's needed to do their job, and none of them use your data for anything of their own.
We don't show a cookie banner, and here's exactly why: everything the site sets is either strictly necessary (security cookies from the sign-in system) or something you triggered yourself: your dark/light mode, kept in your browser's local storage, and — only if you use the language switch — a small cookie (glimmies_lang) that remembers whether you chose Dutch or English, so we can show you the right version next time. None of it is used for tracking or advertising, so under EU/Dutch cookie rules (the ePrivacy rules as implemented via the Telecommunicatiewet), none of it requires asking your permission first — just telling you about it, which is what this section is.
Our own server is in the EU. Discord and Cloudflare may process data outside the EU/EEA, mainly in the United States. Where that happens, we rely on the safeguards required under the GDPR (such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or Standard Contractual Clauses) to keep your data protected to the same standard.
Under the GDPR, you can ask us to:
To do any of this, email privacy@glimmies.dev. If you're not happy with how we've handled a request, you can also complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl).
We keep your account data for as long as you have an account. Sign in with Discord again anytime to update it, or email us to have it deleted. Copies in our database backups disappear as those backups are rotated out. Technical server logs are only kept briefly (see 1.3).
Glimmies isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has signed in and you'd like that removed, contact us and we'll take care of it.
Glimmies links out to Cardmarket, eBay, and similar marketplaces. Once you leave our site, their own privacy policies apply — we have no control over what they do.
We'll update this page if anything here changes, and update the date at the top.
